Dear Boots Press People,
I’m a little confused by a response I read on the internet regarding your advertising in the News of the World and the ongoing allegations.
“We do listen to our customers and will be carefully reviewing and monitoring customers’ views on these allegations before making any decisions.”
That was part of your response, but I’m a little unclear on what this means. So far at least 17 very high profile advertisers have already pulled out or pledged to pull out of advertising from the newspaper. Perhaps they have been faster at gauging customer response than you. More likely, I think, they recognise that the question of whether it’s acceptable behaviour to hack into a murdered girl’s phone, then conceal this from family and police, is not really one that they have to check with their customers to figure out the answer to.
This is not the first time I have suspected Boots of completely lacking a moral compass of their own, and as a customer I shall have to seriously consider alternatives in the future.
Regards,
Peter
